Avey Tare and Eric Copeland

So a long time ago Avey Tare said he'd never tour songs from his album Down There. What a dirty liar. We caught wind of an Avey Tare and had to go. So away Dave Slow, Charr Nuggs and I went. Cheese was supposed to come but was having his period. So we drove into Brooklyn, besides slow getting us lost and me almost killing him, and we found the place easy enough and got a great spot. But we were an hour early so we walked around the block a few times. We saw 15 hipsters and a poor man, funny enough one of the hipsters was wearing the same outfit as the poor man.
Eventually the doors opened. I sold Cheese's ticket to a guy named Hardy from Colorado. Nice guy. The opener was this guy who looked like a hipster version of Jason Lee, accompanied by a guitarist who had his hoodie zipped up. Jason Lee called himself DJ Dog Dick. He was more of a dick then anything else. He had one great line: "Breakfast in bed? I'll cum in the bisquick."
Finally Eric Copeland came on stage. He's always fun to see. The first time I saw him was when I saw Fuck Buttons back in 2009 I believe. That time the mixing sucked for Eric and the set wasn't quite as good. This time sounded awesome. It was like a psychedelic adventure through pop-metal-hip-hop waves.

After Eric melted our minds Avey rebuilt them. He started with a slew of requests, which he chuckled off. His set was good, a little short and he refused to do an encore. His whole body was really into it. He played an amazing new song Slow Words. Unfortunately I didn't catch it. I did get one new one and three from Down There. The dirty liar...

Laughing Hieroglyphic was really cool cause everyone was singing along. An he sang the best line twice. Party. Bonus

One more thing: To Andres the Giant getting his head into all the Avey frames: Fuck you. You looked stupid dancing. You seemed completely disingenuous. The only song you seemed to know was Laughing Hieroglyphic. And your little Asian girlfriend wasn't into it at all.

Daniel Johnston Day!

I feel like Halloween is the time for Daniel Johnston.
So here's a cover I made of my favorite Johnston song. Hope you like it!
Some Things Last a Long Time (Daniel Johnston Cover) by osrego

BTW: Avey Tare Dec. 2nd at the Knitting factory. I promise to get good video this time. Animal this past summer was a let down in the respect that I was enjoying it too much to film. Sometimes dancing trumps Blogging. Oh well...

Heart of Mine

Hey guys,
Check out my new song. I recorded it in a cabin in the woods at the Camp I'm working at now, so it's a little rough.

Enjoy!

Recordings

These suck and in no way are finished. One is trying to be in the style of Person Pitch and failed miserably. The other is my new direction, but isn't properly structured yet. Here ya go:

Panda Bear @ Governor's Island

Panda Bear is my favorite musician. Hands down. Person Pitch was the second record I purchased when I started to collect Vinyl. The first being Merriweather Post Pavilion and third being Spirit. I'd have to say, out of those three, Spirit is my favorite. I mean, Panda Bear's percussion is as close to perfect as you'll ever get. Person Pitch, though, was by far my favorite solo release by Panda thus far. Governor's Island only held Tomboy songs for us, but hey, that's ok, those songs are still heady as fuck Noah.
To start off the trip an old friend of mine, who we'll call Cheese, came from Buffalo to Oswego to pick me, Char Nuggs, Dee Duggs and David Slow up. We drove 7 hours down to Long Island to stay at Slow's house. Party. Bonus.
The next day was the day of the concert, September 11th, 2011. We missed every normal Ferry to Governor's Party. Bonus.Island by 5 minutes. We freaked out searching for a Ferry. After searching every corner of Brooklyn, we decided to check out Manhatten. We parked Slow's Accord at a garage and continued our search. Right when we were about to give up we saw some trippy banners saying "concert" right by the river and we knew we were on the right track.
The island was so cool. Fluorescent trees and Avey Tare DJing. To the left you could see the memorial lights for the Twin Towers. Dust was getting caught in the lights and was illuminating, or I may have just been tripping. Teengirl Fantasy opened. Meh. Gala Drop played next and that's when the trip really started. We couldn't stop laughing at them. Every song sounded the same. Maybe one day I'll upload Char Nuggs impression of them, it's classic.
Finally, Panda Played. This was the first time I got to see him solo and he delivered. The lights, visuals and immense wall of sound completely distracted from the trip and for an hour or so my whole reality was Panda Bear. Although my hands were a tad shaky from the pure awesomeness of the show, the videos came out pretty well. I mislabeled the songs in the videos, sorry:

After the show we chilled on the island as long as we could. It was kinda scary getting herded off the island like sheep. The big, stone, prison like buildings were laced with flood lights so you couldn't see anything. And we were tripping which we forgot about... HAUPPAUGE!!!

Black Dice Live @ Secret Project Robot

Secret Project Robot set the scene for this awesome event on July 7th, 2010. It was literally the hottest day of the summer in NYC. So hot in fact that I stayed outside while Grouper was playing and listened from behind the venue. The stuff they were playing sounded like shitty, knock-off Black Dice songs anyway. About halfway through Grouper's set we saw the members of Black Dice go outside. I don't know what they were doing, probably just talking, but they were out there until they went on. Apparently they didn't care too much for Grouper either...
When we went inside we noticed that Avey Tare was in the audience. To be honest, when I was in high school I met him at a Deer Hunter/ Dan Deacon/ No Age show and kinda acted like a weirdo. I think he recognized me and tried to avoid me. Maybe he just saw my eternal awe of him in my eyes. I would have done the same thing. About 5 minutes standing in the venue and I started sweating profusely. By the time Black Dice was done playing my hands were pruned like I had just taken a shower... except it was sweat. Still managed to get some sick video, enjoy:

After wards Wolf Eyes played. This was the first time I saw, or even heard of them. They were awesome. I've never seen things done with a sax like that. Also some drugged out woman got naked and danced on top of an amp. It was quite a sight. If my camera didn't die I would have gotten it for you guys. Oh well...

Welcome to SUNY Osrego

Hey all,

My name is Osrego. I'm an amateur film maker with lots of ideas, but all I've really done is film concerts I've been to. My plan for this blog is to upload all my arty endeavors. I record music in addition to making films. Of course I'm too self conscious to upload any of that now. Above all this is more of a virtual diary for me, to keep all my works organized somewhere. But hey, how are you?
